# UK law may deny Fayed accusers trafficking victim status

Under current UK immigration and anti-trafficking rules, women who accuse the late Mohamed Al-Fayed of abuse may be refused formal recognition as victims of human trafficking. The rules require victims to prove they were moved or coerced for exploitation, a threshold that their accounts of recruitment and transport abroad may not meet. Campaigners say the gap leaves accusers without the support, residency rights and protections that trafficking status provides.
