# Wi-Fi 8 shifts focus from speed to connection reliability

The next-generation Wi-Fi 8 standard is expected to prioritize stability, efficiency, and consistent performance over raw bandwidth. This marks a departure from previous upgrades, which focused primarily on increasing speed. It matters because it reflects a maturation of wireless technology, addressing real-world issues like congestion and dropouts rather than just theoretical maximums.

**Importance:** 3/5
