# WhatsApp now lets you call people who don't have the app

WhatsApp has rolled out a feature that lets users place calls to people who don't have WhatsApp installed, removing the need for both parties to be on the platform. The change could make the Meta-owned app more useful as a default calling tool and step up competition with rivals like Zoom, FaceTime and Google Meet.
