# Structures of Crimean-Congo fever virus polymerase reveal inhibition mechanism

Researchers determined the molecular structures of the Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever virus (CCHFV) polymerase and demonstrated how substrate analogs can inhibit its RNA synthesis activity. The findings provide a blueprint for designing antiviral drugs against this deadly tick-borne virus, which currently has no approved vaccines or specific treatments. This structural insight is a critical step toward combating outbreaks that pose a significant global health threat.
